So RF and the Todds met up in Pueblo to do the Voodoo Fire race last Sat. It was a 1/2 marathon, 35 miles or a full marathon of 75 miles. We all did the half since we were going to be riding so much. Last weekend was my first race since last July. It was more than just a race. It was a reaffirmation that I truly am all about dirt trail racing. To prepare the salmon, we sprinkled it with fish seasoning and baked it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

I had this salad at a local restaurant and just had to make it myself. Yummers! And it's loaded with good-fer-ya Omega-3s. Your heart will thank you.

It's been 59 days since I fractured my scapula. Today was the first day back on the bike since August 1st. Yes, folks, I'm back in action. (Well, if you call spinning for an hour back in action.) Two months ago this point was so far away that I had to let the desire to ride leave me else I would've grown bitter. Through the valiant effort of a few, much was accomplished. We cut in the first few hundred feet of trail and are slated to cut in the next sections mid May.

It was at Lake Manawa and I'm tickled to report I had my largest group yet: 6. Woo-hoo! Two were newbies, Linda and Jennifer. It was literally Linda's first time on single track and she did great! You should have seen her one-foot it through a couple of hilly spots. And to top it off, my first ever national XC race? I've done national 24 hour events and I don't expect this to be much different but the competition will be fierce.
